Schola Sacra Choir is staging a very important and exciting concert project at the Royal Wanganui Opera House at Anzac weekend. The choir will join with the Lyric Singers and Wanganui Male Choir, and the combined choirs will be accompanied by Brass Whanganui to present The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace by Karl Jenkins.
The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace is a large scale work, written in an approachable and emotively stirring musical style, to convey humankind’s hope that the world will experience an end to warfare as the 21st century progresses. Also featuring no fewer than eight vocal and instrumental soloists, it has become a very popular work to perform over the last twenty years, and profoundly affects its audiences worldwide with the power of the message being portrayed. A specially compiled film will be shown simultaneously with the live music, to enhance the audience experience. This is a huge Wanganui concert, not to be missed!
